Introducing Birdie

Free care assessments

We’ll discuss the person’s needs and recommend suitable arrangements, without obligation.

How a referral works

A straightforward referral process.

  1. Get in touch

Call or contact us to talk through the kind of support that may be needed.

  2. Understand the person’s needs

We arrange a free care assessment with the individual and, where appropriate, their representatives.

  3. Plan suitable support

We write a personalised care plan and identify suitable carers, subject to availability.

  4. Begin care and stay in touch

Once arrangements are agreed, care begins. We stay in contact and review care as needs change.

Care can often be arranged at short notice, sometimes within 24 hours. Every start depends on an assessment, whether we're the right fit for the person's needs, carer availability and the arrangements agreed. If we can't help, we'll say so promptly so another option can be found.

Working alongside you

Complementing the care you already provide.

We understand how important clear communication and continuity can be when several professionals are involved in someone's care. Our team works collaboratively, respecting each professional's role and keeping the individual's needs and preferences at the centre of every decision.

Our carers provide personal and practical care. We don't provide nursing or clinical treatment, so we work alongside the clinicians who do.

Professionals we can work alongside include:
  • PhysiotherapistsSupporting mobility and rehabilitation, with carers encouraging agreed routines day to day.
  • Occupational therapistsHelping people remain independent at home, with care built around their recommendations.
  • Discharge coordinatorsArranging practical support for people returning home after a hospital stay.
  • Independent care managersCoordinating more complex support arrangements across several services.
  • Community professionalsSocial workers, advisers and solicitors assisting older adults and their families.
