Good company makes every day better.

Companionship isn't just having someone in the room. It's a familiar person who shares your interests, gets you out and about, and makes the week something to look forward to.

Companionship at home

A relationship, not a rota.

Loneliness can creep in quietly — after a bereavement, when friends move away, or when getting out becomes harder. Regular companionship brings back conversation, routine and a reason to get dressed and go out.

We match companions on personality and shared interests, not just availability. Over time, visits become something both people enjoy.

Why it matters

Staying connected, staying yourself.

01

Emotional wellbeing

Regular, warm contact can lift mood and give each week shape and something to look forward to.

02

Social connection

Help keeping up friendships, clubs, places of worship and family visits that might otherwise slip away.

03

Confidence out and about

Someone alongside for trips that now feel daunting alone — so the world doesn’t shrink.

Combining support

Companionship, plus whatever else helps.

Many visits mix good company with practical help. The same familiar carer can help with personal care, meals or medication prompts as part of one care plan — so nobody has to get used to lots of different faces.

For families

Peace of mind when you can't be there.

If you live further away or juggle work and caring, knowing someone friendly is calling in regularly makes a real difference. Authorised relatives can see visit notes online, and our office team is always a phone call away.

Common questions

Companionship care FAQs

What’s the difference between companionship and personal care?

Companionship focuses on conversation, activities, outings and practical help around the home. Personal care includes help with washing, dressing and toileting. Many people have a mix of both in one care plan.

How much companionship care can we arrange?

Our private care packages start from seven hours a week, with each visit lasting at least an hour. Visits can be spread across the week to suit the person.

Can a companion take my relative out?

Yes. Outings, shopping, appointments and social activities can all be part of the plan. We’ll agree any practical arrangements, such as travel, during the assessment.

Will it be the same person each time?

We aim for a small, regular team so the person sees familiar faces. Matching is especially important for companionship, so we consider personality and interests carefully.

My parent says they don’t need help. Is companionship a good start?

It often is. Companionship can feel less like care and more like a friendly visit, and it can grow into other support later if needed.
