Introducing BirdieCare-management technology we use

Stay connected to the care that matters.

At Hedgerow Homecare, we combine genuinely personal care with Birdie's modern care-management technology — helping our carers stay organised and keeping families informed, wherever they are.

Birdie

Hedgerow Homecare uses Birdie to support the delivery and management of care.

For families

Stay close, even when you're far away.

Not every family can be there for every visit. With the permission of the person receiving care, authorised relatives can use Birdie's Family App to see what's happening with their care, on their own phone, wherever they live.

A daughter living in Manchester has a mother receiving care in North London. Through authorised access to Birdie, she can check this week's visits and read the carer's notes after each one — without needing to be there in person.

  • Start times of upcoming visits for the next seven days
  • Visit reports once each visit is complete
  • The carer’s notes and observations
  • Tasks and medication support recorded
  • Care plan and “about me” information

The Family App is for keeping up to date, not for messaging. If you have a question, or anything worries you, please just call us on 020 3876 7833. We're a small team, we're always on the end of the phone, and we know every family by name.

For our carers

Helping our carers deliver their best.

Our carers use the Birdie Carer App on every visit. The information they need about the person — their care plan, routines and the tasks agreed for that visit — is in their hands while they're giving support, and what they do is clearly recorded.

For our office

Care that's connected behind the scenes.

Our managers use Birdie's Agency Hub to review what happens on every visit. It supports their professional judgement and supervision; it never replaces it. Because they know the people we support and the carers who visit them, a change in the records is noticed by someone who understands what it means.

Step 1 of 5Who's using Birdie: Carer

The carer prepares for the visit.

The carer opens their rota to see who they’re visiting and when, then reads the person’s current care plan and the tasks agreed for this visit, along with notes from the last one.

Why it matters

Every carer arrives knowing the person’s routine, preferences and anything that’s changed.

This walkthrough explains how we use Birdie. It isn't connected to the app or to anyone's care records.

Technology should bring people closer, not replace the human touch.

The heart of good care is still the relationship between a person and the carer who knows them — their routines, their preferences and what makes a good day. Birdie simply helps everyone around them stay in step.

Bringing care back home.

Questions about Birdie

What is Birdie?

Birdie is the care-management technology Hedgerow uses to organise visits, keep care plans and records up to date, and share information with authorised family members. It is one of the tools we use; your care is always planned, delivered and overseen by the Hedgerow team.

Do all Hedgerow private clients have access?

Yes. Every private client can choose to use Birdie’s Family App, and it is entirely optional. Care is delivered and recorded in the same careful way whether or not family members use it.

Can relatives use Birdie from another city or country?

Yes. With the person’s permission, authorised family members can stay up to date on their own phone wherever they live.

Can I see when a carer visits?

Yes. You can see the start times of upcoming visits for the next seven days, and a report for each visit once it has taken place.

Can I read care notes?

Yes. Authorised family members can read the notes and observations carers record during and after each visit.

Can I see medication information?

Carers record medication support in Birdie and our office reviews these records. Where medication support is part of the care plan, authorised family members can usually see what was recorded. Please ask us what is set up for your relative.

Can I message carers or the office through Birdie?

No. The Family App is for keeping up to date rather than for messaging. If you have a question or anything worries you, please call us on 020 3876 7833, day or night. We’re a small team and we know every family by name.

How is access arranged?

We set it up once care has started, with the agreement of the person receiving care (or someone with the legal authority to decide for them). We can add or remove family members whenever needed.

How is personal information protected?

Each family member has their own login, and we only give access to people the person receiving care has agreed to. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal information, and Birdie publishes information about its own security on its website.

Birdie is an independent care technology company. Hedgerow Homecare uses Birdie to support the delivery and management of care; this page describes how we use it and is not an endorsement by Birdie.
